Spinal Motion Restriction Guideline
This guideline provides direction for identifying patients who require spinal motion restriction during transport. It emphasizes the use of patient history and physical examination findings to determine those at higher risk for spinal injury. Spinal motion restriction can be achieved without the routine use of a rigid longboard, especially in patients who are alert, cooperative, and able to move without limitation. The goal is to ensure patient safety while minimizing unnecessary immobilization and associated complications.
