Where were you born and/raised? Columbus, Ohio. I was born a Buckeye!
What was your first job? Dairy Queen – vanilla soft serve is still my favorite!
You have two weeks off and a plane ticket to go anywhere. Where would you go? This is such a tough question! We traveled abroad for the first time last year (Italy) and now I have the travel bug – we are heading to France in February – how about Spain or Greece! LOL
What would you like your fellow COTS partners to know about you? I am deeply connected to the trauma and emergency response world through my family – law enforcement and fire service are part of my everyday life. Those relationships have shaped my professional approach: staying calm under pressure, reading situations quickly, making sound decisions, and leading with compassion.
What made you decide to be a physician/nurse/EMT/emergency manager (whatever your chosen career path)? My decision to become a Speech Language Pathologist was driven by an early appreciation for the power of communication. Seeing how disease, injury or developmental differences can disrupt a person’s ability to express themselves made it clear to me how essential communication is to dignity and quality of life. I wanted to dedicate my career to helping people connect with others.
What hobbies do you participate in your free time? Camping (ok, in an RV but still in the woods!), kayaking, reading and decorating!
What’s the best career advice you ever received? Stay curious.
What is your favorite thing to do in the Winter season? Ski in Utah – Park City and Deer Valley are fantastic!
What’s something about your background that people wouldn’t guess? I am a published author.
What was the first concert you attended? I am going to date myself, Andy Gibb.
